Is Bill Nye Appropriate for Children?

Bill Nye has recorded an incredulous video recently entitled, Creationism is not Appropriate for Children. As of this writing it has over seven million views. It sounds knowledgeable, but does his monologue match up with the truth?

First, he says that "denial of evolution is unique to the United States". Actually "denial of evolution" exists in Germany, Romania, Russia, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland, Islamic countries, Australia, South Korea, Brazil, Judaism, and Hinduism. Denial of evolution is in no way unique to the United States.

Something that is unique to the United States is it's prominence, it's wealth, it's freedom, it's equality for all, it's intellect, and it's strength. Before Bill Nye puts down and belittles creationists he should remember one thing, evolutionists did not found and build this great country. Creationists did.

Bill Nye goes on to say, "We need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers for the future." It is odd that Bill Nye, a supporter of Barack Obama, would say this. All of the scientific indicators show that Barack Obama's policies have failed. They have not made things better. They have made things worse. Science shows this. Bill Nye needs to practice what he preaches.

He goes on to say, "We need engineers that can build stuff, solve problems." Does Bill Nye live in reality? Does he really believe his own words? Does he think that there are two classes of engineers: the creationists who always fail, who can't build anything, who can't solve problems, who are employed but do not contribute anything to their employers, and the evolutionists who bear all of the engineering responsibility on their shoulders because only they can build things and solve problems? Is that the way it is? Go into any factory and that is NOT the way it is. My father is a retired creationist engineer who solved many problems and built many airplanes during his long career. My son is a creationist engineer who is working his way up in a large company. Look at a small factory where I worked. There are two engineers. They are both creationists. They have designed products that are known world-wide for their innovation.

Before Bill Nye makes outrageous statements like this he needs to be a scientist, do an experiment with engineers, and find out which ones are more productive. He might be surprised by what he finds. And that is the dirty little secret that Bill Nye hides. Though he calls himself the Science Guy, his talk in this video is not scientifically literate and is not backed up by observable science.

In fact, look at the field of science. Open a history book. Look at all of the ground breaking discoveries that creationists have made in science. Look at Isaac Newton who is "considered by many to be the greatest and most influential scientist who ever lived." He was a creationist and an avid Biblicist. Denying evolution did not slow him down or impede his scientific discoveries as Bill Nye suggests that it would.

One thing becomes obvious when you go beyond Bill Nye's unscientific statements. His belief in evolution is not based on observable science. Has he observed an animal evolve from one species to another? No, no scientist has though many have tried to produce it in laboratories for decades. The thing that he sees as central to all life science has never been proved by observable science. Instead, his science is based on theories that atheists have come up with to explain how it can be that this miraculous world got here without God.

A long time ago science proved the "scientific proofs" of evolution to be wrong and in many cases fraudulent (yes, some evolutionists actually produced fake evidence to support their view). Evolutionists conveniently look the other way around those scientific facts. Evolutionists like Bill Nye are trying to distract people's attention from the fact that evolution is not science, it is a religion. It worships the belief that there is no god and rejects any science that proves otherwise.

(Here are two more articles on evolution: Evolution - Truth or Con and The Truth about Evolution.)

He goes on to say, "You can believe what you want religiously. Religion is one thing, but science, provable science is something else. My concern is you don't want people growing up not believing in radioactivity, not believing in geology and deep time." Contrary to what Bill Nye says evolutionists are not the only people who believe in radioactivity, geology, and deep time. In fact, radioactivity was discovered by a creationist. Many geologists are creationists. And many creationists believe in deep time. There is even a branch of creationism dedicated to deep time.

Highly accomplished scientists in the past and today are creationists. Is Bill Nye ignorant of this or is he a blatant liar? Whichever it is, one thing is sure, his statements do not agree with provable science. His statements show him to be a bigot, a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own.

Parents should not expose their children to this kind of ignorance and bigotry. They should discourage their children from blindly following anyone. They should expose them to the truth on both sides of an issue. They should teach them how to check out what a person says and find out the truth.
